Why do my private gallery unlisted images show up in Google Search?

    Hi Jimmy

First of all, a gallery that is "unlisted" isn't automatically private - it still needs to be set to have access permissions set to "Those with permission" in order to prevent just anyone viewing it. 'Unlisted' simply means it doesn't appear in your menus, but anyone with the gallery URL will be able to view it still, and images in unlisted galleries with public access will appear in search results. Additionally, if the images in your private galleries also exist in other galleries which are not private, then it is possible that they would appear in search results.

If you have confirmed that you have explicitly restricted access to these galleries, and that nobody but you should be able to view them, then you should raise this with support@photoshelter com as these images should not be appearing in search results as you say.

Thanks Nick. Also got a great prompt response from Caitlyn from Photoshelter - basically need to change the tab saying searchable/nonsearchable. Now I need to find a way to do a universal change to all my images.

You can use the search tool at http://photoshelter.com/mem/images to display all your images by searching for '.' in the 'File Name' field which should list all images. Then you can select them all and use the 'Actions' menu to make them all non-searchable.
