Is it possible not to show duplicate images in a search ?

    Hi Andreas

It's possible to use the same image in more than one gallery on PhotoShelter. I'd recommend using this approach rather than uploading all your images twice. This will also ensure images only appear once in search results.

    Hi Nick,

at present all images are by grouped by occasion (www.interlitho.com)
In order to show them by artists/fotographers I would have to group them in a different way and upload them again . For example one flower is being shown under flowers and the same image under the gallery of the artist. So in this way the images have to be twice on the website.
Or is there a work around ?
It would be perfect if a gallery would contain only a search string
but this is not possible yet.
    Looking for good ideas ...

    Hi Andreas

I recognise that as you have so many images it may be time consuming to do it manually, but maybe PhotoShelter can help with this if you contact them directly (support@photoshelter.com). But to show you the principle behind this, select an image in its gallery at photoshelter.com/mem/images and from the Actions drop-down menu there is an option to 'Add to another gallery' - this is how you can have an image in two galleries yet keep it as one image on the site. You can select multiple images that belong to the same artist before adding them to another gallery; this would save some time, but if you have 80,000 images then you might need PhotoShelter's help directly.

    Hi Nick,

good to know that images are only being kept once the website if you use add to another gallery. Since images from one artist might be in 20 galleries it would be be an endless task to add them this way. A good way for small archives but unfortunately not for me.
It seems to be that there is no special command to avoid showing duplicate images and also no easier work around.
Thank you for your help if you might have any additional good ideas I would be very thankful especially if somebody might have had the same problem which led to a good solution.
    I will contact the support,
    have a great day
    Andreas

    Hi Nick,
I guess the best solution is to do a search and then to add the images to a new gallery. This should be the fastest way and it will
not create duplicates. So your hint has been the solution.
    Thank you. Andreas
