Downloading photos and compression

My client is asking me this:  When you save a JPG, typically a dialog box (like in Photoshop) appears and you can slide 0 through 12 (low to max quality). And I want to know if the resized versions on your server (I’m guessing those are auto-generated), if the quality is diminished from the original.
