What is Lumen?
Lumen is our new and improved library interface for PhotoShelter for Photographers. It’s a complete redesign of your current Image Browser, offering a faster, more intuitive experience.
How do I switch between Classic and Lumen?
You can easily toggle between Lumen and the Classic Image Browser. Simply click on your name from within your account's navigation menu and select your preferred interface.
When in Classic, you will see the option for "New Library which takes you to Lumen.
When in Lumen, you will see the option for "Classic Library" which will take you back to the Classic interface.
Who has access to the Lumen library?
All paid and active PhotoShelter accounts can access the Lumen Library in the user account menu. Trials do not have access to the new UI yet.
If I switch to Lumen, will all my Classic Image Browser/Library links automatically redirect?
No. The URLs for the Classic Image Browser/Library and for the new Library (Lumen) are different, so any Classic links have saved or bookmarked will only load in the Classic Library UI. You'll need to get new Lumen links to content in order for those URLs to open in Lumen. This does not include the URLs for your PhotoShelter website, only the Library.
How can I custom sort in my galleries and collections?
In a collection or gallery, click the Sort option at the top of the right pane, then select Same as Website > Edit. Select a file by clicking it, then drag it into your preferred order. Save to update the custom sort. You cannot yet custom sort galleries and collections at the root level (Listed and Unlisted).
Where do I set cover photos for my galleries and collections?
Within a gallery, select the image you want to use as a cover photo, then click the kebab menu (three dots) > Set as cover. You can do this from the image thumbnail kebab menu or the black actions nav menu on the right side.
How do I upload in Lumen?
See our in-depth tutorial on uploading files in the new Lumen Library here.
What do the icons next to my galleries and collection mean?
The eye symbol indicates the status of the visibility of that gallery or collection, while the arrow symbol indicates the status of downloadability of that gallery or collection on your PhotoShelter website. Please note that Listed galleries or collections are part of your website's All Galleries page (aka Archive) and all Unlisted galleries or collections require a direct link to view.
- Green indicates public visibility or download access, depending on which symbol has green.
- Yellow indicates that you have given explicit permission to view or download, depending on which symbol is yellow.
- No color indicates that you have not provided permissions to people, groups, or the public to view or download, depending on which symbol is white.
How can I add permissions?
To add a new permission:
- Select a Collection or Gallery in the left pane
- At the top of the center pane, click Share
- Add a permission by entering the name of an invited user from your Address Book, a group, or an email address
- Use the access menu to set the Visibility and Download access for the user or user group
- Notify new users of their access by enabling the toggle to "Notify new users." Once you save your changes, an email invite will be sent to the new users you've granted access to.
From this settings dialog, you can also edit permissions with the cog symbol. If you hover over the user's name, you can also delete the permission.
The default visibility and download settings in your Archive can be set using "Website Settings." This includes the ability to add a password for download access and setting visibility for visitors to the website's Archive (also known as All Galleries).
Where can I find the FTP user account screen?
You'll need to switch back to the Classic Library to access and/or manage your FTP user accounts. To do that, click Your Name > Classic Library.
How can I create a new root level collection?
In the Lumen Library, click + in the left pane next to either Listed or Unlisted, then click Create new container.
Is there an easy way to "select all"?
There sure is! Use the Actions buttons above the right pane to select or unselect all.
Can I batch rename files?
Yes! You can batch rename files sequentially in Lumen by selecting two or more files, then clicking Rename in the right pane.
Where are the Advanced Search filters located?
Search for a term in the Search field at the top of the Library. When the results load, you'll see the Advanced Search filters in the left pane. You can also enable the filters before the search by clicking the Filters icon on the right side of the search bar. To read more about using Search in Lumen, see our in-depth guide here.
Where can I find the link to the gallery, collection, or single image on my website?
Collections + Galleries
Option 1: Select a collection or gallery and then click Share at the top of the right pane. Use the Copy Link button to copy the website link to your clipboard, then paste the link in a new browser tab.
Option 2: Select a collection or gallery in the left pane or center pane and in the right pane, you will see "Open Website Link" which will take you to that container on the website. Next to it, you can copy the link to the selected gallery or collection with the "Copy link" button.
Images
Select a single image in the center pane and in the right pane, you will see "Open Website Link" which will take you to that container on the website. Next to it, you can copy the link to the selected gallery or collection with the "Copy link" button.
How do I edit metadata?
Start by selecting one or more files in the Library that require metadata edits. On the action toolbar above, click the option to "Edit metadata."
The right pane will change into the list of metadata fields which you can edit and click "Save" when done to apply the changes.
You can also reorder the fields using the double kebab icon to the left of the metadata field name and drag and drop them in the order you prefer. If you select a batch of files and want to replace metadata instead of append, the options are available to click above each field.
To view metadata for a single file, select the file or open it in the center pane and in the right pane, click the accordion for "Metadata."
Has the Client experience on my website changed?
Nope! The website experience has not changed. The new Library is only visible to you as the owner of the account and the experience your clients have with your website is the same.
